Private Sin

Story has it that one time three high school kids played hooky from their morning classes. They told their teacher
they were late getting to school because their car had a flat tire. She said they would have to take a makeup quiz for
the one they missed. So, she seated them apart from each other and gave them a one question quiz… “Which tire was
flat?” Ouch! They were busted! Numbers 32:23 says “Be sure your sins will find you out.” This verse reminds us that we are always responsible for our actions. Sometimes we think we will escape, but we will not. Wrong is wrong even when we don’t get caught, even when we think no one has seen us. And, when we do get caught we often have all our excuses. We need to
remember that even when someone doesn’t see us sin, God does! God sees our private sin. Proverbs 15:3 says “The
eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.” In Jeremiah 16:17, God says “My eyes are on
all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes.” Let’s address our private sin
and purify our lives…let’s confess our private sin to God and repent of them…let’s be like David in Psalm 51 and
ask God to create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us.
