I recently read a “Pastor To Pastor” article by Gregg Allison and Chris Castaldo, authors of the book The Unfinished Reformation: What Unites and Divides Catholics and Protestants After 500 Years. In their article, they list 16 traits of God that we all should agree on. These traits remind me of how great a God we serve.
The first eight traits of God are:
- independence, God is self-existent;
- immutability, God is unchanging, the same yesterday, today, and forever;
- eternity, God always exists, not being bound by time, He has no beginning, He has no end;
- spirituality, God is a spiritual being;
- omnipresence, God is present everywhere, not being bound by space, God is present everywhere with his whole being at the same time;
- omnipotence; God is all-powerful;
- omniscience, God is all-knowing, He fully knows the past, the present, the future;
- wisdom, God always wills the highest purposes and the proper means to achieve those purposes for his own glory and his people’s blessing.
Think about these traits of God. What a mighty God we serve!
