Sanctity Of Life

Sanctity Of Life

Yesterday we observed Sanctity Of Life day. A time when we take a moment to publicly say and affirm that all life is precious and of value. This is so true and those are words we need to hear over and over again. It is easy to get caught up in the issues of the day and miss what we think of as the obvious. Recently it was pointed out to me that one can be anti- abortion and not Pro-Life. This made me sit up and take notice. This person went on to explain that you might be anti-abortion and mistreat women. Or you can be anti-abortion and think of yourself better than those of different ethnic backgrounds. When we think and behave this way we truly aren’t Pro-Life, we are just picking and choosing the cause we want to support. So really the point is that to be Pro-Life is to value life – everyone’s life. Life does begin at conception and we should do everything we can to make sure that life is protected and with just as much vigor we must protect the life of all people as learn to live together and love one another. This world is becoming more contentious and it is increasingly easier to discount and devalue others in order to make us seem right. As brothers and sisters in Christ let us step forward first and always first
with love. In so doing, we fulfill what has been asked of us.

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
