Assurance

God never promises that we’ll have a lot of earthly things, but Jesus often spoke of heavenly rewards. For example, in Matthew 5, Jesus said,

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.”

We are assured of rewards in heaven. But God also gives us assurance for today, in this life here on earth, before we get to heaven. As believers we are assured of heaven, to be in God’s presence forever, but we are also assured of God’s presence in our lives each day. In Revelation 21:3, John says

“I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.’ ”

God is with us. Jesus was called Emmanuel…God with us. Jesus said in the Great Commission that He is with us to the ends of the earth. And Jesus also sent us the Holy Spirit. We receive the Holy Spirit when we are saved and God is literally in us. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit’s presence is an assurance of our salvation. The Holy Spirit gives us the strength to live as God calls us to live. Like the old hymn says… “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!” Lets thank God for His assurance!
