Notes From Mark

Notes From Mark

A final thought on living the Christian life and letting that infiltrate the church body. In Ephesians, Paul went to great lengths to encourage us to be pure and holy in everything we do. Reminding us that it is Jesus Christ living and breathing in us, and every aspect of our lives, public and private should honestly and accurately reflect this understanding. His last thoughts in chapter 4 concern our speech and actions towards one another. The words we say should be said with healing, encouragement and love as the intended outcome. When we set out to accomplish this before we say a word, it will be much more effective for the Kingdom. But knowing and accepting that each of us is prone to failure and sin, let us be a people that is quick to forgive remembering the great sacrifice of love and grace that has been shown to each one of us through Jesus Christ.

Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift. Don’t grieve God. Don’t break his heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted. Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesian 4:29-32

May our lives be renewed from the inside out and the message we share be true to the message of Christ.
