Complainers

Thank goodness I don’t get a lot of complainers in my office. However, when things are not going great, or not going as we would like, it is easy to be a critic. Thankfully, Jesus never said, “Blessed are the grumblers, gripers, whiners and complainers.” On one occasion, Martha was distracted with all her preparations, and she came up to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” But Jesus answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only a few things are necessary, really only one, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Jesus ignored the complaint and zeroed in on her…the complainer. He knew that’s always where the problem lies! It is easy for us to see problems in others. What is scary is that we tend to see in others the problems that plague us. In other words, we tend to condemn in others the sins that affect us. So, we reveal our own weaknesses every time we point a finger and complain. To combat this, let’s try to NOT nit-pick, finger-point, or belly-ache. Let’s not point out the problems, but be part of the solution. I have found that negativity is contagious. Have you ever noticed how negative people tend to congregate and feed each other. Let’s be positive! Let’s accept each other…let’s encourage each other…let’s appreciate each other! We need each other…
