Notes from Mark

I have been enjoying the Call Of Christmas series that is being shared in our morning worship. It has been revealing to see the lives of those chosen by God to bear His Good News to the world changed. In these videos and messages one again catches a glimpse of God’s grace and how great God is. This is not great like in “That’s a great team” but great as in there is no one or no thing that is like God or can compare to Him. Then in this lofty place God chooses to share with mankind – that is greatness or just great. God does for His children, us, what we cannot do for ourselves.

One might think that something or someone as great as God would delight in power, might and wealth. But our God delights in the giving up of ourselves. He wants and desires our surrender, so much so that He demonstrated this in all He did. Jesus surrendered everything to come to earth. Coming as a weak, helpless baby dependant on His creation for everything. Dependant on humans for His next breath. Just by coming to earth He showed us surrender. He continued showing us surrender throughout His life. He never called on might or wealth to solve problems or heal those in need. He surrendered totally and completely to God, and God worked through Him. Each person in The Call Of Christmas surrenders to the message and will of God. I pray that each one of us will do this very same thing this Christmas.

for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. And his mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation. Luke 1:49-50
