Notes From Mark

Continuing with our look at worship remember we worship with extravagant love and extreme submission, worship is dependent on our heart. The love we have for God is impaired if it is without action. Action is weakened if it is without obedience and none is possible unless God has hold of our hearts and we believe completely.

With this in mind worship occurs in the home, on our drive to work or at school. There is worship when we are at work – in other words worship is all the time every moment. It is extreme in that worship consumes us because our delight is in the Lord. It is extravagant in that there is nothing we would not do in order to worship. The body of Christ worshiping as one is greater because we as believers are worshiping all the time, worship is not “saved up” until we get together.

If our worship is in our actions then think about those who clean our church – it is a sacrifice on their part to make sure all is ready. Those who work with our children worship when they care for the children with hearts directed to God. Others more visible play their instruments for God’s glory. And the behind the scenes people make sure our corporate worship is better when their hearts are focused on God. It is always a matter of the heart! But nothing we can do can erase the imperfections of our worship. We sin. We lose focus. We act as if we do not believe. But we have a Savior who offers perfect worship on our behalf. We do our best to get worship “right”. But part of getting it right is admitting we aren’t always right. Thus we look to a perfect Savior who invites us to join what He is doing.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I
live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
