Thankful

I am so blessed. I am thankful for our loving church family. Last Sunday was great! We observed two baptisms. We enjoyed some great worship. We dove into God’s Word. That evening, we came together for a wonderful church-wide Thanksgiving Meal. I want to thank all those who worked so hard to set-up and clean-up the meal. I want to thank all those who prepared all the turkeys, hams, and miscellaneous dishes and desserts. We had a wonderful time together…

How did EBC get to Latvia (pt.1)

In just a few days men from EBC will be traveling to Riga, Latvia to work with our friend Karlis’ church. This will be a realization of a mission God began planting since we came to Emmanuel. This mission is that EBC would work to create a partnership with a congregation in country outside the United States. To be completely truthful I never thought it would be Latvia, but God knew. I also didn’t expect that it would happen as…

Notes From Mark

It is exciting to have been at EBC these past few weeks. God has been moving and stirring in the hearts of our people. How wonderful it is to see lives being changed by the Holy Spirit and following through in baptism. Then to know that over 240 people came to our Fall Festival who are not attending any church. Wow! That is large enough to start a church and God has blessed us with the responsibility to share the…

Success

If you ask successful people, how they became successful, most would tell you the key was hard work. Success doesn’t not come easy. Once upon a time, an immigrant to America had heard that “every thing you touch in America turns to gold.” He heard “you make money left and right.” So he came to America with the plan to make a bunch of money and go back to his home country. He was here for a couple of weeks…then…

Perseverance

In 2 Timothy 4:7, Paul says “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Paul knew a thing or two about perseverance. In Mexico City, in 1968, a runner painfully limped into the Olympic Stadium. He was the last man to finish the marathon that day. The winner had been crowned…the victory ceremony was long over…the stadium was almost empty as the runner slowly circled the track to the finish line. When…

Notes From Mark

Sunday evening was an enjoyable evening in the park. The weather was perfect and the “feel” of the night was great! Thank you to those who helped with set up and tear down. To Aaron, Scott, Jeff Roger, Chelsea, Sharon and Cassie, thank you for leading us in worship. It was fun. Seeing the church body in motion, working together, praising God together is a beautiful sight. Knowing that despite our differences and sometimes because of them we come together…

Satisfaction

The world around us can be depressing. We see people who are hurting…who are empty…who are lonely. They have broken dreams, broken lives, and no or little hope. Some of them don’t even try to solve their problems. They don’t try to work things out. They look at the short term and not the long haul. They want the quick fix. They are never satisfied. They feel the grass has got to be greener somewhere else. A farmer/philosopher once commented,…

Share the Story

How great is a good book? The book you just cant wait to get a free minute to pick back up to continue the story. What about a good movie? the movie that sucks you into its story so much that you just can’t wait to tell someone about. We share so much about the things in our lives, the things we love and the things we don’t. Psalm 107 tells of how great the love of God is and…

Learning From an Eel

I recently read about how eels travel from all over the world to the Caribbean Sea for spawning. Then, they and their babies return home. One eel was officially tracked from Canada to the Caribbean Sea. Who taught these eels where to go and how can they tell the directions? Well, God did! He guides the eels and He guides us. Psalm 48:14 says, “For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to…
