Thankful

I am so blessed. I am thankful for our loving church family. Last Sunday was great! We observed two baptisms. We enjoyed some great worship. We dove into God’s Word. That evening, we came together for a wonderful church-wide Thanksgiving Meal. I want to thank all those who worked so hard to set-up and clean-up the meal. I want to thank all those who prepared all the turkeys, hams, and miscellaneous dishes and desserts. We had a wonderful time together…

Notes From Mark

It is exciting to have been at EBC these past few weeks. God has been moving and stirring in the hearts of our people. How wonderful it is to see lives being changed by the Holy Spirit and following through in baptism. Then to know that over 240 people came to our Fall Festival who are not attending any church. Wow! That is large enough to start a church and God has blessed us with the responsibility to share the…

EBC Scripture Verse and Slogan

Recently, I have shared with the church that the Deacons and Ministers have been meeting, as a committee, to understand the culture around us and seek God’s leadership for vision and our mission. Three Sundays ago, at our quarterly business meeting, I shared with the church the committee’s recommendations. Discussion was held and suggestions made. These recommendations will need to prayed over and discussed. I plan to hold a “family meeting” on September 10th for our church to further discuss…

Hope

We all need hope. Hope changes everything. Hope is an essential of life. I remember reading once about some researchers who performed an experiment to see the effect hope has on those undergoing hardship. Two sets of laboratory rats were placed in separate tubs of water. The researchers left one set in the water and found that within an hour they had all drowned. The other rats were periodically lifted out of the water and then returned. When that happened,…

Prayer is the most powerful gift we have from God.

With prayer the wounded are healed. I believe that through prayer that which was dead can live again. I do believe in prayer. It is through prayer that we discover what it is that God wants us to do. But I do not believe that we use prayer to tell God what to do and when to do it. God knows what we need and when is the best time for each one of us to receive that which He…

Thank You!

I want to personally thank you for your financial giving to God. I know these are tough times financially for many of us. Some of us have lost our jobs and some of us have seen our income drastically reduced. I know these things are contributors to a tough time financially for our church. Other contributors are increased expenses in some areas (insurance, utilities, etc.), the decreased income, members moving out-of-town, and members retiring to less income. June is an…

Listening

Researchers interviewed hundreds of young people concerning the greatest blessings they had received from their parents. The number one blessing was listening. They felt blessed because their parents listened to them. Listening is an essential part of good parenting, but it is also an essential part of any relationship. Often, we really don’t communicate. We just take turns talking! Good communication requires listening. When the other person is talking, we listen, and not just think about the next thing we…
