In our society today, when a cheap appliance breaks, we just throw it away and buy another one. It’s not worth fixing. On the other hand, when an expensive item is damaged or needs repair, we don’t discard it or throw it away. No, we repair it…we restore it. Have you thought about the fact that’s what God does for us? When we mess up his lives, God doesn’t throw us away. No, He desires to restore us. This reminds me of an artwork called “The Masterpiece.” It is made up of 300,000 pieces of broken tile that have been put together to reproduce Da Vinci’s painting of the Last Supper. Those who view the masterpiece receive this message… “Though your life may be broken into pieces, it, too, can be put back together by the hand of a master artist, so that the reassembly of the broken pieces may be even more inspiring to your world than the arrangement you had preferred . . . But you will be wise to let that Master of the art of life and living do the putting of the pieces together; for only He has the wisdom, patience, power, and love to turn your broken life into a mosaic masterpiece!” All of us have times we feel broken…all of us have been hurt…all of us have failed…all of us have flaws…all of us have experienced heartache and sorrow. In 1 Peter 5:10, Peter says
“The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
We are valuable to God! And because of that…He wants to restore us…
