At times, thought is given about Sunday nights. Discussions are held. Do we continue to have services on Sunday nights? People vote by their attendance and attendance is low. So, do we cancel Sunday night services like many churches have done? I love Sunday nights…they are special…that is why we continue having them. Recently, Pastor Jeremy Freeman wrote about Sunday nights. His church does have a Sunday night worship. Jeremy expressed five reasons he believes Sunday Night worship services are of value and why he thinks church members should faithfully attend. The first three are…
- the church is not a building, it’s people. The church is the family of God. Families get together and get together often. Sunday evening worship provides more time together as a family.
- as a pastor, there are many things God puts on his heart that he wants to communicate with the church, and a 40 minute, once a week, time frame on Sunday mornings is not enough. Sundays nights have become a time for him to dig deeper and address specific things that pertain to the church family. Those who only attend on Sunday mornings miss so many things that God is saying to the church family through His Word.
- Sunday nights offer opportunities to hear reports from camps, retreats, mission trips, and our youth/children’s choirs. Again, it exposes the body to much that is happening in the life of the fellowship. When people miss on Sunday nights they fail to connect with many of the other vibrant ministries in the life of the church.
Next week, reasons four and five. Are you coming on Sunday nights? If not, why not?
