With whom are you least patient? Is it a family member? A Friend? The government? I would guess if we are honest with ourselves that this person would be you. We tend to be hardest and least forgiving of ourselves when we falter. This might be particularly true in our spiritual life. Have you ever questioned your salvation because of a sin you committed? Maybe you have been fighting desires or fears and the same ones keep throwing up roadblocks in your life. Do you feel like a failure and you keep waiting for that “new creation”? We are sinners and we fail, that is the truth. We have a loving God who even though perfect, still loves us and DESIRES to be with us. That is the truth. God began a work in us and will be faithful to continue to do so until Christ comes again. (Phil. 1:6 paraphrase) So trust God to be exactly who He says. Your salvation is not dependent on whether you feel saved. God has already promised to provide escape from any and all temptations-physical and spiritual. Be patient with one another and with yourself knowing God is working in you.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5:3-5
