Every day we are tempted to sin. In Matthew 26:41, Jesus said,
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
We need to be on watch…we need to be aware of temptation when it comes our way. We need to make good choices. The great thing for us is that God wants to helps us overcome temptation. We often like to hang around with the wrong friends or go to the wrong places. Solomon understood this and wrote in Proverbs 1:10,
“If sinners entice you, do not give in to them.”
When tempted, we have a choice. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, Paul says,
“God…will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”
God gives us an escape route when temptation comes. Like Joseph with Potiphar’s wife, Joseph ran when temptation came! In 1 Peter 5:8-9, Peter says
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
Satan wants us to choose badly…to make bad decisions…but we can choose wisely. I have found that temptations are constant, but we can handle them.
