I went to the WOCDA Honors Choirs concert Monday night & was blessed by the performance of ALL the choirs. Their musicality, sound was beautiful. It was evident they had worked hard on the music. The directors & accompanists did a great job of getting the most out of each choir. There were students with EBC ties there, Barack and Savannah Skinner, Randon Folsom, Ginna Galindo, to name a few & Beth Spena as the accompanists for the Jr. High Choir. All did a fine job. A story I heard from the rehearsal was that the director was getting the choir pulled back together from a break & the focus was not the best. He said “100 % or 0. That’s what I want.”
I believe God is saying something very similar to us. He wants us to give Him 100% of ourselves. Think about giving a gift that means a great deal to you. You hope the person receiving it will hold it to an equally high standard? You surely wouldn’t give such a valued gift to just anyone. The recipient would have to mean more to you than the gift itself. God has done that for us in Jesus Christ.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? . . . Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:31-32,35-37
Understanding this deep love for us, let us not just strive but actually give God one hundred percent of our lives one hundred percent of the time.
