Notes From Mark

As believers In Christ we were not put here to be hidden or to keep quiet about this wonderful gift of life and salvation which is ours. Instead we are to proclaim it. We are to tell this Good News in everything we do and in everywhere we go. This September EBC is placing an emphasis on reaching out. Reaching out to our visitors, reaching out to our church family who for whatever reason or cause has not been attending,…

Help not wanted, HELP COMMANDED

When the Great Commission was given it was not given to a small portion of believers it is a command given to all believers, same came in Acts 1:8 as Christ before his Ascension gave the command that we “would be my witnesses…” everywhere we go. We cannot ignore this calling, this command, this battle charge. If we are not actively doing this we are in disobedience. Yes, we are in sin, by not doing what Christ has commanded we…

Notes From Mark

A final thought on living the Christian life and letting that infiltrate the church body. In Ephesians, Paul went to great lengths to encourage us to be pure and holy in everything we do. Reminding us that it is Jesus Christ living and breathing in us, and every aspect of our lives, public and private should honestly and accurately reflect this understanding. His last thoughts in chapter 4 concern our speech and actions towards one another. The words we say…

Coaster

I don’t know about you but I like roller coasters. I mean I really love them. A few weeks ago we took out family to an amusement park and I got to ride lots of roller coasters. It was great, the weather was not too hot, the lines where incredibly short and my oldest two daughters are finally tall enough to ride any ride in the park. We had a plan, ride every coaster before we left that day. So…

Notes From Mark

As we continue to look at God’s Word as a blueprint for our lives and thus our church, Paul gives instruction for one of the most troublesome aspects of living the Christian life, and that is, How to live the Christian Life while living in the world? Knowing that we are to be different the easy response is to live away from the world, to cloister ourselves off and not get involved. Even in the passage from Ephesians 4, that…

Vision

Recently, I have shared with the church that the Deacons and Ministers have been meeting, as a committee, to understand the culture around us and seek God’s leadership for vision and our mission. Last Sunday, at our quarterly business meeting, I shared with the church the committee’s recommendations. Discussion was held and suggestions made. These recommendations will need to prayed over and discussed. I plan to hold a “family meeting” for our church to further discuss these recommendations and ask…

It’s the Little Things…

[35] The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, [36] and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” [37] The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. (John 1:35-37 ESV > I’m always amazing at the small things that God uses to accomplish big things. Last week I watched as friends invited their friends to come to Falls Creek with them, just a simple invitation…

Notes From Mark

The church is truly an incredible gift from God. There may be times when we don’t see this because of our own actions or the actions of others, yet when we are attempting to live in such a way as to honor God and glorify His name amazing things happen. In my own life there have been times when I have been overwhelmed with the sense of love and kindness by the outpouring of love from my church, even though…

Judging Others

Over the years, I have tried to not judge others. It is hard to do. It takes work. I have a plank on my desktop at church that says “My Plank.” It reminds me to take the plank out of my eye before judging or removing the speck out of a brother or sister’s eye. The Bible tells us that judging others is wrong. Only God is qualified to judge. Have you ever noticed how the person with the most…
