Someone once said…
“Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.”
I like that saying. It is so true! None of us is perfect. We all have sinned. Romans 3:23 says
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
We all have hurts, flaws, faults and weaknesses. Many scriptures remind us we are sinners. Psalm 51:3 says
“I know my transgressions and my sin is always before me.”
First John 1:8 says
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”
James 2:10 says
“Whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”
James 4:17 says
“Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it sins.”
The bottom line is we all do things we shouldn’t do and don’t do the things we should do. That’s why forgiveness is essential. Someone once referred to churches as “hospitals for sinners.” That is what Emmanuel is…a hospital for sinners…a place where we can come as sinful people, encounter God and leave changed.
