We all need encouragement. We all need a helping from time to time. We need encouragement from each other and from God. A man recalled learning to drive as a boy, he was driving the family car on a gravel road with his Dad. For whatever reason, he drove the car off the road, or slipped off the road, into the ditch, and stopped. The man remembered just sitting there and feeling foolish. He recalled that after the dust settled and sitting there for a while, his Dad calmly turned to him and asked, “What are you going to do?” To which he replied, “I’m going to get out and let you drive.” His Dad said, “No you’re not, you can drive this car, so sit there until you calm down, and then drive us out of this ditch!” The man’s Dad was an encouragement to him at a low point. The Dad gave his son a lift up when he was down. That’s how God responds to us. He doesn’t kick us when we’re down. No, He lifts us up…He helps us…He encourages us. The next time you are down, turn to God for encouragement.
