Representing Jesus (1)

Representing Jesus (1)

In Gregory Koukl’s book, Tactics: A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions, he suggests three things we must have to represent Jesus in today’s world.

  1. First, we need the basic knowledge necessary for the task. We must definitely know the Gospel message and then know a little about how to respond to obstacles we will encounter. Sometimes this comes through practice in sharing with others.
  2. Second, we must have wisdom. We must present the Gospel message clearly and in a persuasive manner.
  3. Third, we must have character. We must embody Christian virtues. We must walk our talk.

Gregory Koukl provides ten suggestions for us as to represent Jesus. The first five are:

  1. be ready, be alert for chances to share Jesus.
  2. be patient, don’t quarrel with unbelievers, listen, be gentle.
  3. be reasonable, be informed, gives reasons, asks questions, seeks answers
  4. be tactical, adapt to each person and situation, maneuver with wisdom, present the truth in an understandable and compelling way
  5. be clear, be careful with the words we choose, do not rely on Christian lingo.

Let’s represent Jesus to those who are around us. Let’s be ready, in season and out, to share Jesus with others.
