Some of you know that I don’t like corn mazes. I don’t like having to make a decision as to which way to go with little or no information. It is not fun for me! Whenever I am making a decision, I do my homework. I get the information I need to make a decision. Some of that information may be counsel or advice from others. If it is a spiritual decision, I seek the counsel of Christian men and women, who I respect, or have knowledge in the area of my decision. I seek the guidance of God through the Holy Spirit. I look to Bible for instruction. I know some people who “fly by the seat of their pants.” They make decisions with little or no information. A man once said to his son, “Advice is seldom welcome and those who need it the most, like it the least.” Why don’t we listen to wise counsel? Why are we so stubborn? Why do we always have to try things for ourselves and suffer the consequences before we learn? I like to learn from others…particularly learn from their mistakes so I won’t make them. Solomon said in Proverbs 19:20,
“Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise.”
In order to make good decisions, we need to listen to God and listen to good advice and counsel from others. Let’s make good decisions…let’s make informed decisions.
