The period of time after Thanksgiving ushers in the Christmas season. We have decorated our church and are working on the Christmas musicals and services that will proclaim the news of Christ’s birth. This is an exciting and joyous time, yes it is filled with stress and worry over wanting everything to go just right but it is the occasion and purpose that we do these things that causes us to be this way. Celebrating the birth of our Savior is a big deal! It should not be the mundane and
ordinary, but festive and beautiful. In Christ we find beauty and life. As you prepare yourself for the
celebration of Christmas remember to take time to visit with God and know what He desires from you.
Emmanuel will have several opportunities this season for you to experience the splendor of Christ’s birth. Join us each Sunday morning for our corporate worship. On December 11 at 10:45 our worship choir will present the musical Comfort and Joy. This is truly a worship celebration for everyone. December 14 at 6 PM our children’s ministry will present the musical Angels Aware. This musical takes us way back and attempts to look at the birth of Christ through the eyes of angels. Filled with humor, great music and beautiful children it is an evening you know you want to see.
December 18 at 6 PM is our Silent Lord’s Supper. This is a special time of covenant and communion with our Lord. December 24 at 5 PM is our Christmas Eve Service. Then Sunday December 25 we will celebrate Christ’s birth as family. What a joyous season ahead. I look forward to sharing it together.
A voice cries:
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah 40:3-5
