Worry Wart

I have a natural tendency to worry. An old expression for a person who worries a lot is… “you’re a worry wart.” I have to fight it with prayer and faith. My Mom is a worrier and I suspect I got it naturally from her. The Bible tells us not to worry.

In Matthew 6, Jesus says

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

Jesus continues for several more verses telling us to not worry. We are to replace fear with faith and worry with prayer.   Like Philippians 4:6 says

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

I have found the peace of God is a whole lot better than worrying. So each time I begin to worry…I begin to pray.
