Urgency

My mind set is not always one of urgency. Sometimes I like to loiter and dawdle, just killing time. While that in and of it self is not wrong or bad, it is wrong not to have a sense of urgency with regard to my faith in Christ and His return. Paul had that sense when sharing
his faith with the Gentiles. He would not wait for another opportunity but was faithful in using the present one to share Christ. It did not matter if it was a teachable moment or telling others of how Christ miraculously and dramatically changed his life he took advantage of those moments in time and actively sought them out. That is what I want in my life. There have been times of putting off waiting for a better opportunity or maybe telling myself that God had a better time and place later. The need to feel or sense, that urgency is imperative for all believers to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. If we fail to have that sense then it is easy not just for us but our children and their children to become all too complacent and those who need to hear will spend eternity without Christ.

But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing
everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about! Romans 13:11-14
