Friends

Pepper Rodgers, former head coach at UCLA, was having a terrible season. He was getting a lot of criticism, from the press, the alumni and even his wife. Pepper said, “My dog was my only friend. When I told my wife that a man needs at least two friends, she went out and bought me another dog!” Wow! Ouch! He may have been kidding, but we all need friends. Someone once said that a friend is one who walks in when the world walks out. Most of my best friends over the years have been members of the church I attend. They have been a great support for me and I hope I have been a help to them. We all need friends. We all need a church family. Our church family has been wonderful to me. What a great set of friends. But most of all, we all need Jesus. The Bible says Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. We all need that! Jesus wants to…and will go through…everything life throws at us. Let’s be a friend to those around us. Let’s be a friend to our church family. Let’s turn to our friends, our church family, and particularly Jesus whenever we need a friend.
