Notes From Mark

The workers are here and the old carpet is being ripped out. Preparation is being made for our new vinyl plank flooring in the basement – Children’s area. I look back on the past few months and I am so grateful for the generosity of our EBC family. You have given not only financially which has been huge but also with your time. To top all of this, it has been with an amazing loving and supportive attitude. This past…

Notes from Mark

A huge THANK YOU to each one of our workers in VBS this year. From the help we had in decorating, to our Kitchen Committee and those that helped with our Pool Party, to each one that was available to help in any manner during the week of VBS to those that stayed and helped clean up after Family Night, you did a fantastic job! It is a blessing to see our church working together as one body for the…

Re-Fresh

This week, we have been putting a new coat of paint on our sanctuary. The existing paint is over 20 years old. The new paint will refresh the sanctuary. It will give the sanctuary a new look. It is the same sanctuary, but now it will have a fresh look. The past few months, the deacons and ministers have been looking at the culture and community around us. We have been looking at our church. We have been praying about…

VBS Was Good!

We had over 120 children enrolled with about 60 workers, helpers, leaders and teachers, which makes a total enrollment of 183! Thank you Robyn Antwine for being our VBS Director. Thank you to each worker, leader, helper and teacher, this could not be done without the help of each one. Thank you Emmanuel Baptist Church for your support of VBS. I was so pleased and proud at Family Night as our church members were making it a pointed effort to…

EBC Missionaries: Disaster Relief

With the severe weather that we experience last week and the damage in Elk City I was compelled to add 1 more Missionary topic to this series that wasn’t originally planned. As we discussed our churches desire and obedience to fulfill Acts 1:8 part of that mandate is to be the Hands and Feet of Christ (Matthew 10:42) in times of need. Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief is the 2nd largest volunteer relief organization is the world. Currently the Oklahoma Disaster…

Living Sacrifices

Last Sunday, I shared a message from Romans 12:1-8 titled Living Sacrifices. I encouraged the listeners to consider spiritual changes for the new year. I asked them to make changes to be more like Jesus, to examine themselves and make the changes that God wants us to make, and to be about serving God and others this next year. This coming Sunday night, we will have our Committee Kickoff event at 5 pm. If you are serving on a committee…

Fall Festival

The weather is changing. Nights are cooler the mornings have a crispness and the sky seems bluer. Thanks to a wet summer our autumn is feeling wonderful and looking beautiful. It is good to be alive and experience the joys of this world. As beautiful and wonderful as this world is we must remember that it pales in comparison to our eternal home. If you think about it, it can put your imagination into overdrive! Thinking about heaven doesn’t diminish…

Notes From Mark

Do you get tired? Have you ever felt you can’t give one more ounce of effort? Don’t give up! Hang in there. These are not just simplistic words you have heard or that are said in passing, they are a paraphrase of what God has said to us in His word. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let…

Missing the Point

Orville and Wilbur Wright made history by keeping their flying invention in the air for a total of fifty-nine seconds. After the flight, they rushed to the telegraph office and wired their sister in Dayton, Ohio. They messaged her… “First sustained flight today for fifty-nine seconds, hope to be home by Christmas.” Their sister was thrilled and hurried to the local newspaper with the great news and the telegram. The next day an article about the Wrights appeared in the…

Notes From Mark

Sunday was a good day in God’s house and with our church family. Not only were there people joining our church but also at our baptismal service where there were 12 that were baptized including brother and sister and a family mom, dad, and child being baptized together. It is truly heart-warming to see God move in the lives of people and knowing the love of Christ that is in each one. Last Wednesday there were 96 children attending our…
