Notes From Mark

As God’s creation we were created to give Him praise and adoration – we were created to worship. You have no doubt heard it many times that a humans, if we do not worship God we will worship someone or something, we can’t help it that is the way God made us. As I shared Sunday our worship is paramount to our growth as Christians. It is not only our time of worship when we gather but it is our…

Re-Fresh

This week, we have been putting a new coat of paint on our sanctuary. The existing paint is over 20 years old. The new paint will refresh the sanctuary. It will give the sanctuary a new look. It is the same sanctuary, but now it will have a fresh look. The past few months, the deacons and ministers have been looking at the culture and community around us. We have been looking at our church. We have been praying about…

Falls Creek is Not a Summer Camp…it’s more

In Two weeks Emmanuel will send a crew of 50+ people down to the Arbuckle Mountains in southern Oklahoma to Falls Creek. Falls Creek is unique in that it is a place where over 100 churches come each week to hold their own camp week. Each church secures its own cabin, provides its own leaders and meals, enforces the dress code and camp code of conduct and teaches its own in-cabin devotions. Falls Creek is one week in a year…

Notes from Mark

There is a fresh wind of challenge blowing in our church body in this wind is a desire to seek God as a church body and to follow His leading. It has started in the simplest of ways, changing the look of our sanctuary. The work has started and workers are needed. If you can help pitch in do so next week. The fellowship of working together, the laughter and the words of encouragement builds us into one body! This…

Planning

Someone once said that without planning, our dreams stay just that…dreams. Most people going on vacation make plans. In fact, most people spend more time planning their vacations than they do planning their lives. A recent study found that only 3% of people have written goals, 7% have some fuzzy ones, and 90% have no goals. A follow-up survey revealed that the 3% who had written goals achieved more than the other 97% put together. In 1 Peter 1:13, Peter…

Missions

Matthew 10:42, “And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” As I sit on the other side of the world, handing bibles, gospel tracks, DVD’s of the Magdalena Film that presents the gospel to them. We are interacting with North African Muslims, Spanish, Spanish Gypsies, Refugees, Latins, Romanians and IMB Missionaries. So much diversity is here…

Children’s Ministry

As last reported we took 61 children and 10 sponsors to Pre-Teen Camp. With the theme of Pass It On, each one of us was encouraged not just to hear the Word of God but to share His Light by living for Him. It was a good week. We had 13 decisions with 5 for salvation and 2 others wanting to follow through with baptism. It is always exciting to see God working in the midst of our group. I…

Month of Rest

This year, marks the third year we have taken a break in July from the regular routine at Emmanuel.  For adults, there will not be any regular Wednesday night activities or Sunday night activities.  However, Sunday mornings will remain the same and yet become so important.  We will gather for our fellowship breakfast…we will meet in small groups to study God’s Word…then we will gather as a church family to worship God.  This July break provides some rest for the…

Invading Culture

To fulfill our mission of MAKING DISCIPLES by Invading Culture we will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through our words, through unconditional, intentional acts of service, and encouragement on a personal, local, state, national and international level. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:39-40 (ESV)   Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of…

VBS Was Good!

We had over 120 children enrolled with about 60 workers, helpers, leaders and teachers, which makes a total enrollment of 183! Thank you Robyn Antwine for being our VBS Director. Thank you to each worker, leader, helper and teacher, this could not be done without the help of each one. Thank you Emmanuel Baptist Church for your support of VBS. I was so pleased and proud at Family Night as our church members were making it a pointed effort to…
